Uniform

Our Uniform

In April 2021, a new law was passed in Parliament that requires schools to follow new statutory guidance on uniform. This new law came into force in September 2022. We expect pupils to be smart and dress according to the uniform policy at all times.

Our School Uniform is important to us. It is one way in which we identify ourselves as a school community and it promotes a strong, cohesive school identity which supports high standards and expectations in all areas of school life. It promotes harmony between different groups represented in the school, and it enhances security.

We have a required school uniform for several reasons:

*       Uniforms unite the school. Pupils make a commitment that when they put on their High Cliff Academy uniform they will abide by the rules of the community.

*       Uniforms reduce distractions. We are focused on achieving success; when pupils are allowed to wear their own clothing, there is the potential to talk about fashions and styles rather than learning.

*       Uniforms make us all equal. Whether families have high incomes or low incomes, the pupils come to school looking the same way; everyone can feel proud and comfortable in the clothes they wear.

*       Uniforms look professional. Pupils look neat and ready to learn. We ask parents and carers to support all decisions by school staff regarding whether or not clothing is appropriate or inappropriate for school.

Uniform Orders

All children have equal access to wearing school uniform regardless of their gender identity, culture, race, religion, disability or ability. We ensure that our uniform and uniform policy adheres to legislation around equality, race relations and sex discrimination and allows for individual sets of circumstances for all groups and individuals. High Cliff Academy is committed to creating a positive climate that will enable everyone to work free from racial intimidation and harassment and to achieve their full potential.

We have kept our uniform as simple as possible: it consists of

  • a collared white shirt or polo shirt,
  • a royal blue jumper or cardigan (with or without logo),
  • trousers/shorts/skirt/dress (grey or blue checked).
  • Plain black footwear with white, grey or black socks/tights.
  • Hair accessories to be royal blue or white

The uniform is the same for all year groups and is unisex. Most of the uniform items are generic and so can be bought from anywhere, e.g. a supermarket. The only items that will need to be purchased from our school uniform supplier are the branded jumper/cardigan (if you so wish)

For PE, pupils need a plain white t-shirt, plain royal blue shorts and black trainers or plimsolls.

The branded elements of our uniform (which are optional) are supplied by https://www.yourschooluniform.com/
