At High Cliff Academy, art plays a vital role in the education of all our pupils. By the time they leave us, they should be proficient in artistic techniques in order produce art and have an appreciation of the technical and theoretical knowledge of the tools, materials and history of art so that they can take part in the conversations of artistic value and aesthetics that exist beyond their lived experience of the subject.

By prioritising technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge, we prepare students to engage meaningfully with art, fostering their ability to discuss and critique artistic value and aesthetics. By fostering an appreciation for diverse artistic traditions and perspectives, we aim to cultivate culturally literate individuals who can contribute thoughtfully to the ongoing conversation around art and its significance.

Aligned with Trust's mission to develop knowledgeable and responsible citizens, the art curriculum aims to provide students with the intellectual tools needed to navigate and contribute to the rich tapestry of cultural discourse, encouraging them to draw connections between their artistic practice and the broader world.
